Vote by mail - It has never been easier More Info
There is no longer any excuse not to vote. Voting by mail is fast, easy, and available to any registered voter. You don't need a medical excuse, nor do you need to be out of town on Election Day to utilize this service.
 
Permanent Vote by Mail Voting
California law now allows any voter to become a permanent vote by mail voter. As a permanent vote by mail voter you will automatically be sent a ballot for every election you are eligible, as long as you continue to vote in every general election.
To apply as a permanent vote by mail voter :

Complete, sign, and send in your application to the Elections Office.
If you are currently a permanent vote by mail voter and wish to remove your permanent status and vote at your polling place on Election Day or apply for an vote by mail ballot for each election:

Complete, sign and send to the Elections Office.
 
Overseas & Military Voters (Special Vote by Mail Voter)
As a special vote by mail voter your vote by mail application also serves as a voter registration form and a permanent vote by mail request.
A special vote by mail voter is one of the following:
1. A member of the armed forces of the United States or any auxiliary branch thereof.
2. A citizen of the United States temporarily living outside of the territorial limits of the United States or the District of Columbia.
3. Serving on a merchant vessel documented under the laws of the United States.
4. A spouse or dependent of a member of the armed forces or any auxiliary branch thereof.
If you are a U.S. citizen permanently residing outside the territorial limits of the United States or District of Columbia, you will be mailed a ballot for each Federal Election.
Special provisions are allowed for Special Vote by Mail Voters to expedite the handling of their ballots such as:
Ballots are available as soon as 60 days prior to the election;
By supplying a fax number or email address on your application, we are able to electronically send your ballot to you (ballot must be returned by mail and received in our office by 8:00 PM on Election Day).
