Mission
To record, archive and provide copies of official records and vital records (birth, death and marriage certificates), file fictitious business name statements and notary public oaths, file maps related to real property, issue marriage licenses and file domestic partnerships.

What We Do
The County Recorder maintains a permanent archive of recorded documents, such as grant deeds and subdivision maps, among others. The Recorder is responsible for examination and recording of all documents presented to this office that deal with establishing ownership of land in the county or as required by law.

The Recorder also collects Documentary Transfer Tax on all property sales. All
Official Records documents are recorded, indexed, scanned and stored. The public may search, view and copy these records for a fee, as allowed by law.

The County Clerk files and maintains the applications for process servers, professional photocopiers, legal document assistants, unlawful detainer assistants, humane officers and surety powers of attorney. Requests to appoint individuals as Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages are granted upon payment of fees.
