To record, archive and provide copies of official records and vital records (birth,
death and marriage certificates), file fictitious business name statements and notary
public oaths, file maps related to real property, accept passport applications and
take passport photos, issue marriage licenses and file domestic partnerships. |

What We Do |
| |
The County Recorder maintains a permanent archive of recorded documents, such as
grant deeds and subdivision maps, among others. The Recorder is responsible for
examination and recording of all documents presented to this office that deal with
establishing ownership of land in the county or as required by law.
The Recorder also collects Documentary Transfer Tax on all property sales. All |

Official Records documents are recorded, indexed, scanned and stored. The public
may search, view and copy these records for a fee, as allowed by law.
The County Clerk files and maintains the applications for process servers, professional
photocopiers, legal document assistants, unlawful detainer assistants, humane officers
and surety powers of attorney. Requests to appoint individuals as Deputy Commissioner
of Civil Marriages are granted upon payment of fees.
